Bio

The University of Rwanda (UR) is the largest and most prominent public institution of higher education in Rwanda, created in 2013 through the merger of several existing universities and institutes. It operates as a multi-campus university across eight locations in Rwanda, including Huye, Kigali, Rukara, and Nyagatare, among others with six colleges and I study in College of Medicine and Health Sciences(CMHS) that located in Remera campus in Kigali City. UR emphasizes excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement. It offers 87 undergraduate and 138 postgraduate programs and has a diverse student body of over 31,000. The university is home to several centers of excellence, including the African Centers of Excellence in Internet of Things and Energy for Sustainable Development, funded by the World Bank. Its research initiatives address global and local challenges, particularly in health, education, and sustainable development. The university's vision is To be a leading University that develops highly enterprising graduates prepared and dedicated to building a more just and sustainable society locally, nationally and globally, with appropriate innovations that advance quality of life. The university's mission is To support the development of Rwanda by discovering and advancing knowledge, committed to the highest standards of academic excellence where students are prepared for lives of service, leadership and solutions. Considering that University of Rwanda (UR) students need to be organized in order to protect and promote their welfare and academic interests, the students of UR have established a Union called "University of Rwanda Students' Union (URSU)". URSU strives only for the social welfare and the academic success of the students and it is not an ideological or political or religious organization nor does it have any political, religious or ideological agenda. URSU registers, in consultation with Campuses and Colleges' administration, all students' associations of all campuses and colleges of the University of Rwanda and oversees their operations. Vision: The vision of this union is "To strive for a golden future of UR students. Mission: The mission of URSU is to advocate for quality education and promote students' interests in general.
